Carolyn is founder and Director of the award winning Knowle West Media Centre located in South Bristol: an arts and media centre (built of straw bales) that delivers a wide range of socially engaged arts and citizen centred smart city projects that contribute to a wider understanding of the role of arts and technology in economic, social and cultural regeneration. Recently KWMC established KWMC:The Factory a community digital micro– manufacturing and maker space, and have been working on a Citizen Sensing programme called #bristolapproach.
In 2009 she received an honorary doctorate from the University of West of England for her contribution to education and social inclusion, is a fellow of the RSA, and has been a member of the South West Regional Arts Council.
